Ombudsman Program

A little time...can make a big difference.

The Ombudsman Program provides advocacy services for residents of long-term care facilities. Trained volunteers work with residents, family members and facility staff to assist with resolving issues. Ombudsmen are assigned to a facility and visit on a weekly basis to discuss problems and concerns, or to simply provide social support.

All Ombudsman program services are delivered free of charge. Ombudsman take part in a 36-hour certification training course. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please call (716) 878-2385 or sign up online!

Ombudsmen must be at least 21 years of age with an interest and capacity to fulfill the advocate's role, as well as having strong verbal and written communication skills. Regularly scheduled training is provided.
