MEDIA ADVISORY

To:          Editors and News Directors

From:      Judith A. Rucki, APR

Date:       March 31, 2006

Subject:   Wine Taste and Silent Auction

WHO:      American Red Cross, Greater Buffalo Chapter Board Member J. David Dunn is hosting a wine tasting and silent wine auction.  The Global Group Wines and Spirits will be donating wine for the wine tasting, and their wine experts will be on hand to execute the tasting. Don Warfe of Brodo is donating food to compliment the various vintages.

WHAT:   A wine tasting and silent wine auction

WHEN:  Sunday, April 2, from 4 to 7:30 p.m.

WHERE: American Red Cross, Greater Buffalo Chapter headquarters (the Clement House) located at 786 Delaware Ave. (corner of Summer St.) in Buffalo

WHY:  This event will give people the opportunity to sample some fine wines. With so many local restaurants serving great wines, people are becoming more knowledgeable and interested in sampling unique vintages. This is a great opportunity for people to taste a variety of wines and learn more about them.

There are people in town who have fine wine cellars and may be looking to add to their collections. Good vintage wines in a wide range of prices will be featured, with some bottles valued as high as $500. Wine aficionados may not be able to find some of these vintages anywhere else!

A small sampling of the wines available for auction include a 1982 Montrose, a 1989 Lynch Bages and a 1990 Sassicaia. The oldest bottle being auctioned is a 1954 Malmsey-Madeira.

Proceeds from the auction will go toward purchasing an exciting trip to wine country for the M*A*S*H BASH. The Bash, which will be held Friday, June 2, 2006, is the chapter’s signature fund-raising event.
